How is my little, tiny baby a big, walking, talking TODDLER now? Luke is now almost 20 months, but he was still 18 months when he had this 18 month check-up.
It went so well! Luke was so well-behaved and happy at the pediatrician's office. His pediatrician said we were doing such a great job raising him and that he was so healthy and looked perfect. Not exaggerating at all... he actually said that! I was beaming. It is a wonderful feeling to have someone tell you that you are doing a good job, especially your doctor!
Luke has grown so much since his last check-up at 1 year. Apparently he is pretty tall (at least much taller than the last appointment). In fact, the nurse had to measure him twice because she thought she had measured him wrong the first time!
He is in the 98th percentile for height (34") and
85th percentile for weight (26.15 pounds).
A few things about my toddler:
-He loves anything with a motor (cars, motorcycles, trucks, airplanes, etc.)
-He loves balls. Footballs, soccer balls, anything that even resembles a ball!)
-He loves balloons. That kid can spot a deflated balloon in the grocery store rafters from a mile away I tell ya!
-He loves stickers. And sticking them all over the house.
-He is obsessed with BUBBLES. All I hear all day long is "buuubbles?? Buuubbles??"
-Oh yeah and the other word I hear all day long is "ice?? ice??". He loves ICE! He always tries to steal it out of our cups. :)
-He is in size 6 diapers! 3-year-olds wear size 6 diapers, people! Not 1.5 year olds! What can I say, He has a big Buda Belly and a little junk in the trunk. ;)
-He can follow directions so well and is a really good "helper".
-We started "potting training" him. I say that loosely, because all we are really doing is showing him how to use the potty and letting him sit on it, flushing his poo down the toilet, etc. I just want to get him used to it, instead of surprising him with it one day when he's older and forcing it on him. Hopefully this will make it easier on him in the long run.
-He doesn't say a lot of small words, but does say a lot of phrases and sentences. His first words were mama, dada, and ball. And then he went straight to "Ready, set, gooo", "I did it", and "what's that?".
-He started going to nursery at church, instead of staying with me. He has the sweetest teachers and he is dong so well. He is pretty social with people, but he is also getting really good at playing by himself, too, and not needing me every second of the day. :)
-He loves big kids. He loves younger kids too, but he can be too rough with them sometime. We are working on that.
-Around the time that he turned 1, he FINALLY started sleeping through the night. He was sleeping like a champ and taking a 2-4 hour nap every day. Recently we hit a little road bump with that, but we are working on that too.
This is his "What's that?", or "where is it?" look...
Loving this toy at the doctor's office!
I absolutely love this age! Sure there are hard times... he is a toddler after all. But he is just so much fun! He does the weirdest, most hilarious things all day long. There is never a dull moment in our house!
