Mother's Day and Solid Foods

This Mother's Day technically wasn't my first Mother's Day. Last year, I had just found out I was pregnant two days before Mother's Day and we decided to share the news with my family then. It was such a special time for me. I remember sitting in church and Tommy and I kept looking at each other every time motherhood/mothers were mentioned, secretly knowing that I would be one in 8 months!

Fast forward to this year and I now have a 4-month-old! It was so fun to finally be able to celebrate this special day with my most precious gift. This year was also different for me because I can finally understand just how hard being a parent can be, and just how much work and love it takes to be a mother... and which, most of the time, goes unnoticed and unappreciated. I felt extremely grateful for my mother this year!

I didn't get very many good pictures of the day, but here is a cute one of me and Luke!

Luke also had infant cereal for the first time! He absolutely loved it! He kept trying to feed himself and grabbing for the spoon and sucking on his fingers... it was very messy! :)

4 months!

Look who turned 4 months old today!

  • I took my big boy to his 4 month check-up today. He weighed a whopping 15 pounds and 7 ounces (70th percentile), and measured at 26 and 5/8 inches (95th percentile!).
  • His pediatrician said we could start solids whenever we're ready/we think HE'S ready (it's recommended to start between 4-6 months)... soooo we might try out some infant cereal this weekend. I don't want to rush it though, so we'll see how he does.
  • He "talks" allllll the time.
  • He finally like's tummy time. But he LOVES his exersaucer even more:

  • He's so interested in the world around him and reaches for things he wants. I love to watch him study something. I wonder what goes on in that cute, little head of his.
  • He can flip over onto his back when placed on his stomach. I have a video of it that I'll upload after I figure out how to do it. :)
  • He can also push himself around in a circle when on his back.
  • He can almost sit up on his own:
  • He still loves kisses. More importantly he loves mommy's hair (grabbing it, pulling it, eating it, etc.). I'm thinking about cutting it off like this:
  • Anything that can fit in his mouth, WILL go into his mouth (and even if it won't fit, you bet he's still gonna try to get it in there!)
  • And lastly, his baby cousin, Warner James, was born yesterday, May 9th!! My sister and I can't wait for them to be best buds! Hopefully we'll be able to make the trip over to see him very soon! He is so tiny and perfect and we love him already. Here he is with his big brothers, Dylan and Lincoln. They are going to make the best big brothers (along with their big sis, Danielle!). :)

And of course, here are a million cute pictures of my guy:
